What do you attribute your success to?
Careers are a combination of hard work and serendipity. I learned the value of education and work ethic from my parents. As I advanced in my higher education and career, I was blessed with a tenacity to constantly desire to achieve and a host of mentors surrounding me providing support and new opportunities.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't be afraid to try new things—even if it's a negative experience you'll learn from it. Every step in our career is a learning opportunity and a stepping stone along our path. Learn and grow from every opportunity and allow it to shape you as a person and influence your next step.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't look for the perfect opportunity, just get started. There are a variety of ways to enter the field. It may be an internship, and entry level job, or just a chance to work in a related job where you rub shoulders with people doing what you want to do. Time equals experience. The more time you spend learning, growing, and building relationships...the more doors will open to you.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The tech and product design industries are saturated. Most companies are looking for senior+ level employees. It can be tough to break into the field and it is currently highly competitive. In addition, AI is flooding the market and rapidly changing the way we work. Stay curious, adaptable, and lean into your uniquely human skills while working alongside AI.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family, integrity, service. My family is my highest priority. My role as wife and mother to four children is the most important work I'll do. Raising and sending good humans out into the world is the highest accomplishment I will achieve. I'm proud of the company I work for, the products we create, the Creatives we serve, and the team I work with. I care deeply about serving and giving back to my local community. I mentor on ADPList, I give time to Adobe STEM initiatives, and I volunteer in my local community.
